Cristalerías Chile - Centralizing information with IBM Maximo Asset Management
Santiago, June 2009. Motivated by optimizing its maintenance processes as well as improving decision making and information consolidation of all its plants was Cristalerías Chile’s – primary manufacturer of glass bottling in Chile - main reason for having taken the fundamental decision to integrate the IBM Maximo Asset Management software within its TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) strategy. Regarding the advantages and results of this solution we speak with Nelson Cuello who is Cristalaría Chile’s Maintenance Manager.
With a reknown trajectory and experience in the field of glass bottling in the country, Cristalerías Chile currently tends to the needs of more than 200 clients with the highest quality of standards. This is demanded by the different markets both nationally and internationally.
With this in mind it is essential to rely on a tool which can centralize information and increase the efficiency levels in the management of assets.
As a result of this situation the IBM Maximo Assessment Management software was incorporated and whose effects have been most beneficial and positive.
As explained by the maintenance manager, “before the implementation we had a decentralized information system which was an obstacle for us to perform well. I believe that it is really important to be able to go from corrective to preventive maintenance thus assuring a process without difficulty. At the moment of bringing into service the new application we designed a model which has allowed us to increase our efficiency levels with respect to assets”.
With respect to the advantages of this solution he adds, “I believe that one of Maximo’s particularities is its ability to adapt itself to our reality and the daily requirements”.
“On the other hand”, stresses the professional, “it was very interesting the fact that a prestigous company like Solex with the required experience was the one which implemented the software”.
One of the most important challenges which they face currently with the tool is to incorporate the new plant in Llay Llay and move forward with all the other modules. “We want to ensure that the integration to SAP is done the best way possible” ends the expert.
