Aceros Arequipa - More security and flexibility with IBM Maximo Asset Management

Arequipa, Peru, June 18th, 2009. Maintaining its status as a leader in the iron and steel sector is one of the most important objectives which the Peruvian company Aceros Arequipa has set out for itself.
Naturally in order to achieve this goal it has been necessary to continuously keep up to date in the area of new technologies. And for this reason the implementation of IBM Maximo has been a valuable support.
As pointed out by the General Manager for Maintenance Planning Iván López “The principal advantage of this solution is its adaptability to the maintenance tasks, that is, it is made for maintenance people in mind”.

Dedicated for the past 40 years in the production of steel meeting international standards, Aceros Arequipa is today one of Peru’s most important representative in the economic sector. It has demonstrated the ability to put in place a company which grows, adds value and develops ties with all their related parties: shareholders, people, clients, suppliers and the community.
Obviously this added value has brought it to invest in various processes in order to always be in the fore-front.

For this reason IBM Maximo Asset Management became the best option at the time of implementing a technological solution which would establish priorities with the strategic plan.
Regarding this the executive stated “this platform has helped us prioritize the initiatives to support the Core Business. Thanks to its optimal performance, we have been able to do quick follow-ups with respect to the strategic theme: vision, objectives, and goals amongst others”.
“In addition to this it is a tool which has the ability to access other systems’ database and this is very useful”.
Another important factor is that it has given the possibility to know exactly what is going on within the company. This is a fundamental point given that this was previously impossible.
Without doubt Maximo’s functionalities with respect to maintenance management have been fundamental for the company.
“With this platform we have been able to generate workflows which allowed us to visually separate the different management stages: inspection, planning, programming and execution” indicates López.
Today all of the company’s employees use Maximo to carry out their daily tasks in an efficient manner. “They can place orders, do calculations, extract indicators as well as other functions”.
